Trends: Layered Necklaces and Leather Vests

Firstly, completely unrelated to all things fashion or the outfit post below…but it wouldn’t be right to share all about this glorious dress and not make mention of the complete devastation that has hit the Jersey Shore yet AGAIN. A few towns over,in Seaside, a huge fire has destroyed half of the boardwalk…buildings and businesses that have been there for decades…just gone.  I am not sure how much more the towns here can bear but please say a little prayer for the families, businesses, firefighters and first responders.  My heart breaks as people rally to rebuild…again.

Today is my husbands 35th birthday…Happy Bday babe!  He is off to golf and we are planning a big family dinner…cake and all…for tonight.  Last night, we decided to go to dinner, just the two of us.  I have been itching to wear this Von Vonni dress again…it is probably my most favorite dress…EVER!  I needed a way to bring a more casual vibe to it…and my trusted Rachel Zoe leather vest did the trick.  I kept the rest of the look really really simple…minimal makeup and hair in a ponytail.  My favorite mixture of sweet and edgy, this outfit will go down as a favorite of mine.  Style tip here is to consider layering you favorite summer dresses with vests and outerwear for a more fall inspired look….perfect way to get more wear out of your more formal items.  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and check out my tips for layering necklaces below!  Happy weekend to ALL!!!

Layering Necklaces:
I love this trend and am glad to see it making a comeback.  I have been rocking it for quite some time!
I might be in the minority, but I don’t think there are a ton of rules to layering.  My advice…

1.  The most important thing to remember is all of the necklaces you choose to wear must be different lengths.  I would say make sure there is at least an inch between where they hit on your neckline.

2.  I love the mixture of metals like you see above.  It is a modern take and shows you aren’t afraid to have a little fun! Of course, all gold or all silver look great too!

3.  Really it is about letting your personality shine through.  Much like any accessory it is an expression of who YOU are.  Do what feels right for you.

Preston’s Christening

I was gifted this dress a few months back from one of my favorite dress designers regularly featured on the blog,  Von Vonni.  It was so special looking, I decided to save it for a particular occasion (compelled to mention it was originally $350 and on sale for $79, link below in outfit details- runs full).  We christened Preston this past weekend and it was the perfect debut. I love turquoise and black so the earrings were a no brainer…I kept the rest of the accessories minimal.  Below I have shared a little glimpse off the church and after party…it was a beautiful day celebrating the little nugget with our closest family and friends.  Thank you to all who shared in it 🙂

Dress c/o Von Vonni available ON SALE here, Earrings Amrita Singh, Coat Nicole Miller, Shoes Christian Louboutin

I tried a Pinterest hairdo with minimal success.  It looked a little more special than it does on the daily, but it was harder to “actually” do than the pinner suggested.  I wish I could link, but I can’t find it on any of my boards…argh!

BlackOut

I have been embracing lots of fun colors lately…purple, red, mint. I have been loving the burst of color, but sometimes you want to turn to old faithful…all black. My tip for a rich all black look is layering with different fabrications and textures. Below I started with a silk jersey, layered with leather and added a black suede shoe to polish it off.  I felt super chic, hope you agree and find some outfit inspiration:)

A Formal Affair

I have been a fan of Von Vonni for a few years, as you can see from features here, here and here.
I am planning to wear this dress below for a wedding I am attending late November…sharing it here a bit early, so you have time to pop over to Von Vonni and check out the beautiful dresses for all your special occasion needs this fall.  I decided to pair my favorite bordeaux accessories and keep it classic with a strand of pearls…Feeling regal…and at 6 weeks post birth…how I feel is more than half the battle:)  Would you style it up differently? Do tell.

Maternity Monday- Completely Candid

I hope that all the expecting and mama’s had a beautiful and relaxing day with family and friends. We hit the boardwalk and spent most of the day outside as the weather was 78 degrees and sunny! My hubs and I went out to dinner Friday night with dear friends and this is what I wore:) I will be completely candid that I do not recommend or care for these Maternal America White skinny jeans. After wearing them a few times, they really are not comfortable on the waistline (not enough stretch)and then allow for too much stretch in the the leg. I can’t decide if it is just an overall bad fit/make OR if they just aren’t for my body type in particular. They weren’t pricey but they weren’t cheap either (paid $78). I hate to give poor reviews on the blog and if I don’t care for something, I usually won’t feature it…but since I own them, you will see them from time to time and I would hate for any expecting mama’s to take that as an endorsement. The rest of the outfit I ADORE and have been dying to wear the Von Vonni Silk Shirt. Hope you find some outfit inspiration and have a great week!

Honesty and Von Vonni

Let’s talk honesty folks……When I started this blog I promised myself that it would be REAL.  I would only feature outfits that I actually wear, only partner with brands that I love and respect and only recommend items that I either owned or had the opportunity to touch and feel.  So in one swift click, I stripped away the Google Ads, turned down inquiries for advertising and even said “No Thanks” to a few giveaways……and although some days I wonder if I am being stupid….MOST days I feel really empowered.  We are in control of VERY little in life (especially w a toddler ruling my world) so it is beyond important to me to have control over this space. I have kept that promise to myself and am really proud of my voice and authenticity.  You might not like my style, taste or recommendations…and that is OK, but they are all my own.  I appreciate brands wanting to get involved and when the time is right, I am sure I will partner and offer advertising.  Who knows what the future holds, maybe Louis Vuitton will be my next sponsor inquiry? A girl can dream, right?
*long story where this “rant” came from……..

Now back to the important part….the clothes….. Below is the Von Vonni dress that I featured a few weeks ago here. I sold it to 4 clients and decided I had to have it myself…here are my favorite ways to wear it.

Dress Von Vonni, Headband Ann Taylor, Earrings and Necklace Sunshine Daydreams

Love how the back ended up on this…So beautiful and bare.

Who doesn’t love the one shoulder trend? I just twisted the long pieces of fabric together and this is how it turned out! Love!

I am not blessed with a large chest and can go braless most of the time, but so many women cannot. This dress can be full coverage, bra friendly and still sexy as hell. This is actually my second favorite way to wear it. So regal.

The dress is still available for purchase for $99 plus shipping if you are interested. Currently in black and additional colors based on inquiry.
