Third Times A Charm

The first time I wore this dress in April, I paired it with a leather jacket and Jeffrey Campbell booties.  The second time, I matched it up with my Nicole Miller fur trimmed sweater and my favorite leopard pumps below.

Since I have moved onto fall shopping and am trying to “work what I have” I decided I could definitely wear this dress a third time:)  The trick in keeping it feeling new and fresh for me, was introducing totally different accessories and shoes.  This time around I threw on a mess of gold necklaces, a cool studded belt and my coral sandals.  What do you all think?  How do you reinvent pieces in your wardrobe?  Hope you are inspired to “work” your summer wardrobe and make it a great week!

I wear a ton of Stella and Dot and feature it on the blog regularly like here, here, here and here (that is just naming a few)!  As you know, I really try to feature and giveaway items that make sense for this blog and Stella and Dot makes perfect sense!  If I can also highlight a friend…the feature gets that much better…..

This is my beautiful (inside and out) friend Lindsey.  We met years ago when we both cheered professionally for one of my favorite NFL teams, The Philadelphia Eagles!  Three seasons, a few years, two babies (mine), one glorious wedding (hers) and many memories later we are still dear friends:) We have decided to partner up and bring you this INCREDIBLE giveaway but more than that, she is sharing her Stella and Dot story and hopefully inspiring some of you along the way.  I hope that you will pop by her shopping site when you are looking for beautiful affordable accessories:) So without further adieu… Lindsey. Unfairly gorgeous, I know!

Q:  What can you share with my readers about yourself?
A:  I am an almost “thirty-something,” happily married, Jersey Girl – born and raised! For the past 6 years, however, I have become a traveling gypsy due to my husband’s career. Being a “baseball wife,” I have become a professional packer, a professional traveler, a professional mover, and for the second time in my life – a professional cheerleader! My very large and extremely close-nit family and my hysterical and fabulous beyond words group of girlfriends mean everything to me! Fashion and jewelry tak a close third in my world of obsessions!
Q:  Why Stella and Dot?
A:  To be frank, two reasons… One, I was obsessed with Stella and Dot’s product, and I just wanted to be a “hobbyist” (receiving the discount)! Two, I couldn’t go to a baseball game 7 days a week anymore. I needed something for MYSELF, that I could do wherever we were located. I travel approx. 4-8 times a month (every month), and I have moved 19 times in the last 6 years (my husband has been with 7 different organizations). Needless to say, the “baseball life” is a very blessed lifestyle in certain aspects, but it is also an extremely uncertain and stressful lifestyle in many other aspects. Never in my wildest dreams when I signed up to become a Stella and Dot Stylist and to do something “just for me” did I think I would be finding the dream job of a lifetime. I started off doing this for “fun money.” In just a year and a half…I have triple promoted to Associate Director, I have a team with over 25 amazing ladies beside me, and my money is still super FUN…but, it is also paying the bills! Bonus points…their product just keeps getting better and better with each new line!
Q:  Why did you choose this particular bag to gift to one of my lucky readers?
A:  I wanted to feature our La Totale Tote in Espresso Ikat simply because I am completely smitten with this bag! From quality to functuality to style to price point…this tote is everything! I’m constantly being stopped on the street and even being asked, “is that Louis Vuitton?!”…I knew right away this bag was a showstopper! One of a kind. It doubles as a “mommy bag” for all of my lady friends with kiddos, it’s PERFECTION for traveling, and yet, it’s still super chic!

Your My Obsession

So I have been hitting the gym hard this week to shed these last few lbs and haven’t been in any blogworthy attire (event packed weekend so great outfits to share next week) but for now, I thought I would share my current obsessions. Here goes…..

So I have to give credit where credit is due.  If you don’t follow along on Facebook (you should by clicking here), I recently asked readers about recommendations for scars for my c-section.  I knew I wanted a second child, so I wasn’t that concerned about my scar the first time around…but we have decided our family feels very complete with the birth of Preston 4 months ago, so I am super focused on getting this scar looking as good as it possibly can.  Many of you recommended Bio Oil (which I had never heard of).  It is available at pretty much all local drugstores or online .  I have only been using it for a week and I am beyond obsessed.  I am using it generously for my scar, but also have been using it on dry elbows, knees and feet and even mixed some in with my lotion this morning.  It isn’t as greasy as one would expect from an oil and I love the scent.  Thank you FB friends as I give this product FIVE STARS ladies!!!!

The Dakota Earrings available here are my first purchase from the new Stella and Dot Collection.  I pinned them on my Fashion Wants Board last week and decided to just go for it!  I usually buy a few pieces per season as I find their jewelry to be on trend, well made and affordable.  I adore the mixed metals and bohemian vibe of this particular pair…they are perfect for Spring/Summer.  Of course, I won’t be waiting to wear them, as you will most likely see them in an outfit post (or two or three) very soon.  I told you I was obsessed!!!   *sorry the image is so grainy I pulled them from the Stella and Dot Site

I started using Honest Products when Connor was about 2 1/2.  He only wore them for about 3 months before he was potty trained, but I really liked them and decided to stick with them for Preston as well.  I love them for a few important reasons and one silly reason:)  They are plant based, have no harsh chemicals and are biodegradable, so they are safe for my lil ones bum as well as safe for the environment.  As you can see from the above photo, they are available in a plethora of adorable prints and are so darn cute…(that being the silly reason).  I know some of you reading are thinking, they sound great but they are ridiculously expensive….in all “honesty” …they really aren’t much more.  I was buying a large box of diapers ($34.99) and wipes ($28.99) from Costco each month totaling about $64.00.  With Honest Diapers I am paying $79.00 per month but the items are delivered conveniently to my doorstep.  To me, the $15 difference is worth it for the peace of mind.  The only negative I can think of is that sometimes I run out of wipes and have to buy an extra pack ($5) before the new shipment arrives.  So far I have just used their diapers and wipes, but I am considering trying out there body wash and bathtime products as well….which leads me to my next obsession.

My dear friend Kelley gifted me this Mustela Newborn Set when Preston was born.  At the time I had never heard of the brand but after a little online research apparently it is the leading skincare line for expecting mothers and babies in Europe.  I started using the Foam Shampoo for newborns (specifically cradle cap) and was hooked.  All the items are super gentle, smell awesome and are can read more here.  Again, a little on the pricier side, but I haven’t gone through any of the bottles and have been using the products since we starting bathing Preston on the regular about 3 months ago…..the product seems to last.  I think I am going to try using the lotions for Connor as well.  Nice to know that skincare/beauty powerhouse Sephora carries the brand so when I finally do need to reorder, it should be pretty easy.

I just purchased these Steve Madden Smoking Slippers from a local boutique here at the shore.  I needed another pair of flats to run around town in and thought these were really fun and comfortable too.  I have already worn them with skinny jeans and felt super chic but I like that I can also wear them with a skirt/dress as they have a dressy feel to them.  I opted for a darker color but they are also available in this color which would be great well into the warmer weather.  Totally obsessed and you will for sure be seeing them on the blog in the coming months.

Hope you enjoyed my roundup of current obsessions and have a great weekend!

Barefoot, Pregnant and Giving Things Away!

I am literally barefoot and pregnant in this outfit post:) For those who don’t follow FB….I broke a bone in my right foot and am in a walking boot for the next 8 weeks. Not super convenient considering I am pregnant, have a 2 year old to look after and a thriving new business….somehow I will manage! Looking at the positive…I can take it on and off…hence the barefoot photo shoot:) I am heading to meet a friend for dinner (been on foot house arrest for the past week) and can’t wait to break free!!!  I wanted to cover my ugly boot as best I could, so I turned to the good old maxi dress.  It is a beautiful night here at the Jersey Shore.. I threw a beautiful silk blouse over top and am good to go. Hope you find some outfit inspiration and don’t forget to enter the giveaway below!!

A little Bit Scandalous

I knew EXACTLY where I wanted to shop for a dress for Kelley and Jeff’s wedding. This amazing new boutique in Lavallette called Podium. I met the beautiful owner months ago at the NYC trade shows and had been meaning to pop in for quite some time. I knew she carried formal dresses (which is a rarity at the jersey shore) so it was my first stop on the mission. When I spied this little number out of the corner of my eye….. I wasn’t convinced I wanted to wear black (I like to wear color in the summer months) but once I slipped this dress on….it was OVER. This is not my normal “look”….I mean I like sexy (what girl doesn’t want to feel sexy) but I also felt a bit scandalous….but in a good way…does that make sense? Well, obviously I went for it and wore the dress. I think a few conservative folks may have been making comments but I felt pretty bad ass….I will never ride on the back of a motorcycle, so this is about as DARING as it gets.  Hope you find some inspiration:)

Sticking To My Guns

I really am sticking to my guns and haven’t made any purchases since sharing my shopping ban (except for one teeny weeny little relapse) with all of you about a month ago. I have been to a few boutiques, Old Navy and EVEN Target and have resisted them all. Aren’t you proud?  It really is so hard and has been quite an awakening.  I have realized how much I purchase for myself weekly…..and NOT out of necessity.

Anyway, don’t feel too sorry for me. Although I am currently prohibited from buying anything new, I hit the after holiday sales pretty hard and have enough “new” to last me until the shopping ban is lifted in March. Thank Goodness:)

It is my brother in laws birthday over the weekend. Nothing crazy, just an early dinner with family. My usual “comfortable chic” is the attire. The tunic is from prefall Nicole Miller but both the sweatercoat and cargos were purchased around the holidays. Hope you find some outfit inspiration and have a great weekend:)

Good Luck!

Stella & Dot….you have to check it out!

So, like everyone else on God’s green earth, I have reconnected with many highschool friends on Facebook. One friend in particular, Donna Rosberg, is a fashionable mommy of two who just launched a new career with Stella & Dot, the jewelry line. She reached out to me and turned me on to the line. I am now addicted- GREAT website ( and the jewelry is AMAZING. Just what I needed, was another fabulous website where I want to buy EVERYTHING. Oh well, money is for spending, right?
Above I have featured two pieces. The first is the Charlize Bib Necklace, which is my fav and below that I have featured my girl Donna’s fav, the Penelope.

The Charlize Bib Necklace is not for the shy girl. It is an over the top statement piece. The necklace is handpainted turquoise enamal with 14kt gold plated accents. It hangs 18.5 inches in length (2″ extender) with lobster clasp. I always gravitate towards turquoise in the spring. Last spring I bought this amazing HUGE turquoise cocktail ring…I am thinking it will look sick with this necklace. The best part is that the retail is reasonable. The Charlize is only $79.00. Is it me, or is that a lot of necklace for 79 bucks?

The Penelope is for the more demure and understated. It is 14kt gold vermeil chain, charms, and medallion, 19.5″ length. The pendant diameter is 1″. This is a fun whimsical everyday piece. It goes with almost anything and is a great piece to layer with other necklaces. Also wallet friendly at $68 retail.

As I mentioned my friend is starting a new career with Stella & Dot. That is the other neat component to this jewelry line/company. Everyone has the opportunity to work for their company by becoming a stylist, hosting trunk shows/parties, and networking through family, friends and coworkers. What a smart idea! Visit their site and learn more about this unique company and it’s plans for the future. I think they are paving the way for a new kind of retail.

This quote is taken directly from their site…..
“Stella & Dot is the modern home-based career that your mother never had. We’ve put the power of ecommerce, social networking and personal service behind an irresistible jewelry line. It’s the next big opportunity for our era. Think getting together with girlfriends, Lucky Magazine, Facebook and no glass ceiling in sight.”

So please, shop the line, but also consider a new career. For a new mom in her thirties…..especially one who used to work and now stays at home….this sounds like a dream job on your time and terms.

Oh and one last thing….when you checkout (becuase I KNOW you won’t leave the site without buying something) make sure to mention your stylist is Donna Rosberg (the process will prompt you). She turned me on to the collection and I like to give credit where credit is due!
