Taking My Own Advice

I am sure you wonder if I take my own fashion advice…..and I can honestly say, I do!  For example, you might remember this post where I advised readers to get to know a great tailor.  I believe customizing your clothing to fit perfectly is key to a fabulous wardrobe.  A few months ago I did a complete overhaul of my closet.  I sent items I haven’t worn in 12 months (my rule of thumb) to consignment, donated some items that were worse for wear and made a small pile of items that I still loved but didn’t fit properly. The dress below was originally purchased when I was 8 months pregnant and I wore it for Prestons shower here.  The dress is by my favorite Philadelphia brand Sava and it was not maternity, so at the time I sized up considerably to make room for my ever expanding waistline.  I am still completely smitten…loose flowing silk, soft tie dye print….what’s not to love?  I decided to take my own advice and brought it to my local tailor (along with a few other items) and had it sized down to fit me now that all the baby weight is gone.  What do you all think?  I wore this to dinner with my husband before he heads out of town this weekend.  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and have an awesome weekend!

Baby Bump to Gear…Maternity Fashion Week!

Times are changing ladies….gone are the days when pregnant women gave up on their personal style for nine months.  We are demanding to look fashionable while are bellies grow!  I am happy to be partnering with a great site Bump to Baby Gear ….written by three sisters with a whole bunch of kiddies….they know their stuff when it comes to all things baby and toddler.

This week the site kicked off a Maternity Fashion Week event that runs all of this week. Pregnant mamas, you should definitely hop over to check out fall looks and $700+ in giveaways from Prelegant, Isabella Oliver, Madderson London, Madeleine Maternity and Borrow For Your Bump. You may recognize some of these brands from my maternity posts.  All of these maternity retailers sell beautiful, flattering clothing and have great options for dressing a growing bump during the fall and winter months.

You can view the full schedule of Maternity Fashion Week features and giveaways here at BumpToBabyGear.com. Below is a little more detail about the five brands participating in Maternity Fashion Week:

Prelegant is an online maternity retailer that offers elegant maternity wear appropriate for a more formal office or an evening out. It is also the only place online in the U.S. you can buy certain chic European maternity brands like L’Avenues des Bebes and Pomkin.

Isabella Oliver is a British-based maternity brand that sells a large variety of beautiful maternity clothing in flattering fabrics. Many of the brand’s pieces have a simple, classic and tailored look.

Madderson London is a new maternity brand that just launched last week with a mom-to-be at the helm. It is UK-based (but ships to the US) and offers a small selection of stunning dresses at the moment. Isn’t the ad campaign gorgeous?

Madeleine Maternity is a stylish maternity brand with a small, but beautiful collection of dresses that are affordably priced. I discovered this brand late in my own pregnancy and shared a photo of the black and pink kimono-style dress I wore on a night out when I was 8 months along.

Borrow For Your Bump allows you to rent (or buy) maternity wear as your figure grows. This is such a great option, especially if you need maternity work wear, a special occasion dress or just a little bit of new style infusion into your maternity wardrobe.

Good luck entering all the FABULOUS giveaways!  Happy Shopping!

As promised, I am documenting myself til the bitter end….37 weeks and counting folks. This Von Vonni has proven to be a great non maternity, maternity dress. I find myself turning to the same three maxi dresses and relying solely on accessories to make my look fresh and unique. We had a final (before baby) get together with my husbands family yesterday and this was what I wore. The Coin 1804 vest has been a staple on the scene as you may remember from this post and I recently purchased the Stella and Dot necklace below.  I have had my eye on it for a while and then a friend of mine had a party, necklace was on sale, the rest is history.  Smitten with all the neutral tones here…kind of speaks to the transition from summer to fall. Are you as excited as I am for earth tones, jeans, boots and layers? Hope you find some outfit inspiration and make it a great week:)

Down to the Wire

It’s getting down to the wire….I officially have less than 8 weeks to go until baby boy arrives into this world:) I am beyond excited, extremely anxious (understatement- I have major anxiety with this pregnancy) and just ready with a capital R.  To keep me busy….I jam packed the month ahead….working in my last round of box clients, attending two boutique openings, hosting three blog giveaways and finishing up with an amazing interior designer (entire post dedicated to this later in the month) whom I hired to do the boys rooms.  Are you exhausted yet?  Getting a ton of wear out of this Old Navy maternity maxi…it has been fun throwing tops over it and finding creative ways to style it. Cost per wear is down to pennies for sure! Hope you find some outfit inspiration:)  Amazing giveaway coming this weekend…stay tuned!!!

Happy Memorial Day!

Heading out to hit the beach with the little guy but thought I would quickly share my festive blue and white from yesterday’s BBQ.  This Target dress has been a maternity favorite and was featured recently on the blog here.  Kind of fun to see how much the bump has grown in the past couple weeks….crazy to think I still have three more months of stretching to go!  All sorts of layers here….a must for Jersey Shore BBQ’s….as the sun goes down, the temperature quickly drops and I like to be prepared.  Two and half year old tugging at my leg to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine so not much else to say….Enjoy your Memorial Day…filled with family and friends…and take a moment to remember the brave heroes that are honored today:)

Maternity Mondays: Pop Pop Pop

What a great weekend:)  My husband didn’t have to work (he usually does) so we enjoyed the beautiful weather with trips to the park and boardwalk. This is the time of year that I ADORE living at the Jersey Shore.  Simple weekend wear featured….what made it modern and up to date were the little “pops” of color. The Sam Edelman’s are a new purchase…big fan of the neutral tone and then the “pop” of orange on the strap. I also love this Vintage Havana tank with the “pop” of neon yellow. All generally subtle, but add a little bit of interest. No maternity wear in this post, just a skirt with a lot of stretch and tank with major tummy forgiveness.  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and have a great week:)

Black Tank Dynamic, Striped Tank Vintage Havana, Skirt Velvet c/o Third Street Habit , Fedora Lola’s Boutique, Necklace (short) gift (long) Katherine’s Boutique, Gold Hoops Lola’s Boutique, Sandals Sam Edelman

Longer necklace was a recent purchase from one of my “Box Service” boutiques. I love how it mixes and matches with pieces I already own.  More available for purchase $38. Email with interest.

Couldn’t resist featuring my lil man…wearing the most hilarious T-shirt.. it says “The Dark Side of the Spoon”.  When you laugh out loud in a children’s clothing boutique you have to make the purchase. Any other Pink Floyd fans out there?  (Tshirt from Sarah Kiddles in Point Pleasant)

As usual, I am linking up with the lovely ladies of Monday Mingle!  Fashion post? You should join in too!

Maternity Monday- Completely Candid

I hope that all the expecting and mama’s had a beautiful and relaxing day with family and friends. We hit the boardwalk and spent most of the day outside as the weather was 78 degrees and sunny! My hubs and I went out to dinner Friday night with dear friends and this is what I wore:) I will be completely candid that I do not recommend or care for these Maternal America White skinny jeans. After wearing them a few times, they really are not comfortable on the waistline (not enough stretch)and then allow for too much stretch in the the leg. I can’t decide if it is just an overall bad fit/make OR if they just aren’t for my body type in particular. They weren’t pricey but they weren’t cheap either (paid $78). I hate to give poor reviews on the blog and if I don’t care for something, I usually won’t feature it…but since I own them, you will see them from time to time and I would hate for any expecting mama’s to take that as an endorsement. The rest of the outfit I ADORE and have been dying to wear the Von Vonni Silk Shirt. Hope you find some outfit inspiration and have a great week!

Maternity Mondays- Casual Chic

Featuring a look I wore last week for a day filled with shopping (for clients), a few activities with my lil guy and eventually the boardwalk (it was beautiful out).  I wanted to be chic (you never know who you will run into) but comfortable. Love this tank from Target…I purchased it in 5 colors/prints and plan to wear it throughout the rest of my pregnancy. This is easily an outfit I would wear pregnant or not, I love the combo of black and mustard…such a great pair. Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Shopping!

Linking up with Monday Mingle…join in the fun…here!

I wore this dress for Easter and got so many compliments, I decided to take it for another spin at a client appointment Monday.  My last pregnancy, I exclusively wore loose billowy maxi’s and dresses so it has been a lot of fun dressing this bump totally different.  I popped a little later this time, but have obviously made up for lost time in the belly department:) Prepare yourselves, I will not be one of those “barely” pregnant skinny gals…..as adorable as they are…not in the cards for me (I birth 9 pounders). Hopefully I am brave enough to continue with outfit shots all the way through:) Anyway..back to the fashion….If you aren’t pregnant but like the vibe of the dress, check out my picks here and here.  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Shopping!

* Walking boot still isn’t off yet, June 1st.  I took shots in these shoes, but changed after the photos:(

Maternity Monday! Pregnant or Not

As a personal shopper, I am in and out of boutiques three days a week and sometimes I find it overwhelming deciding which trends to recommend to which clients.  Each has there own personal preferences and life style, however there are some stand out items that I just keep going back to box after box, appointment after appointment.  Based on my client preferences and what I wear personally,  here are my TOP FIVE MUST HAVES for 2012, pregnant or not.  Happy Shopping!

The Statement Necklace.  I personally love turquoise and find that it goes with everything, but any colors you adore will do!  This particular one retails for $75.00 and is available here.  Use code LOVEMOM for 10 percent off of your purchase. Turquoise isn’t your thing?  Try this fun multicolor necklace.

The Black Maxi Dress.  Color and prints are fun too, but I am a firm believer in the black maxi dress. It is easily paired with bright accessories for a splash of color and can be worn well into fall with layers.  The Maxi above retails for $149 and is available here.  My fellow pregnant ladies, I recently purchased and featured this one and LOVE IT!

The White Skinny Jean.  Hands down the most versatile denim for Spring/Summer, which is why it is included in every box service this Spring.  They just seem to go with everything. I typically push for full length over capri, because you can wear it long and then cuff them for a different look.  The ones featured above are Madewell and are available here.  Maternity styles available here and for a less expensive option here.

The Nautical Shirt.  Blue and White stripes have never been more chic.  Whether they are preppy, bohemian or trendy…..this is a top request with all my clients.  The shirt above is from the Old Navy Maternity line and is available here.  For my non pregnant readers, check out these cute shirts here and here.

The Fedora.  I personally wear mine constantly in the summer months.  Partly so I do not have to do my hair, and partly because I feel an instant boost of style.  Recently I have had a few Derby hat requests with wide brims like here    but it is mostly fedora’s that are in demand.  I love the classic one featured above but this one is super fun too!

Mint Inspired Monday

A quick break from Maternity Mondays……I am linking up with two of my favorite blogs, BonBon Rose Girls and In Honor of Design to showcase our different styling takes on the color MINT. Hands down it is THE color for Spring.  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and make it a great week!!

Velvet Skirt c/o Third Street Habit Boutique available here , Britton Mini Dress worn as tunic (no longer available), Esley Mint Blazer, Marcia Moran Gold Earrings (no longer available) similar available here  , Nine West Sandals, Deux Lux Clutch, Sunglasses D&G.

Esley Mint Blazer retails for $60 plus shipping and is available for purchase (Sizes S, M, L Sold Out) Please email carly@thirtysomethingfashion.com with interest. BLAZER ALL SIZES SOLD OUT

Now for the lovely ladies “take” on Mint…….

Adoring mint with white jeans and that pop of orange, well you know I approve!  Anna says, “Mint seems to be made for spring. I thought it would be fun to pair seafoam and mint since they compliment each other so well – a great monochromatic combo. I added a punch of orange to complete the look, because I am a bold colors girl at heart:)”  Pop over to Anna’s Blog, for a mix of fashion, design, DIY’s, motherhood and just plain old positive talk.  I have enjoyed reading her blog for a long time now and know you will too!

Kristin is looking like baby bump perfection and believes, “Pastels have definitely been speaking to me this season and mint, in particular, has been a bit of an obsession of mine. Unfortunately, I’ve had some difficulty finding mint pieces that I can rock due to having to work around a large and in charge baby bump. Haha! I was elated when I came across this gorgeous mint statement necklace. It’s the star of my look set against a plain black maxi!”  Kristin teams up with her bestie Megan to run an amazing blog and also network for bloggers to meet, mix and mingle. If you haven’t checked out BonBon Rose Girls head over…and if you are a blogger, join their network…what are you waiting for?

Happy Shopping!

Maternity Mondays: The Maxi Dress

This Old Navy maternity maxi (available here)  is going to be my “go to” dress for the entire summer!  I ordered a mix of maternity/non maternity maxi’s from Old Navy last week and this is hands down my favorite.  I can wear it now layered with buttons ups and vests all the way through summer with simply a pair of flip flops. As you can tell from the photos the belly has seriously popped over the past week…no denying there is a little man (yes, it is another BOY) growing in there:) We are over the moon for Connor to have a lil bro to wrestle around with.  Hope you find some outfit (maternity) inspiration.  Happy Shopping!

Turquoise Statement

In my personal opinion, absolutely nothing breathes more life into a basic outfit like a turquoise statement necklace.  Although this black dress is anything but boring….the Spring weather called for some bright colored accent pieces.  I have gotten so much wear out of this necklace, it is probably one of my best accessories purchases.   Hopefully you find some outfit inspiration and simply spice up an old black dress with some bright fun accessories!
* Disclaimer for my doctor:  Yes, I did shove my broken foot in this Brian Atwood heel, but I promise it was JUST for the photos and I actually wore a flat sandal accompanied by my walking boot to the dinner I attended. I wanted my readers to see the in a “perfect world” vision and the walking boot was obviously not part of that vision.  Don’t judge. I am a slave to a good pair of shoes. Thanks for understanding. Barefoot, Pregnant and Giving Things Away!

I am literally barefoot and pregnant in this outfit post:) For those who don’t follow FB….I broke a bone in my right foot and am in a walking boot for the next 8 weeks. Not super convenient considering I am pregnant, have a 2 year old to look after and a thriving new business….somehow I will manage! Looking at the positive…I can take it on and off…hence the barefoot photo shoot:) I am heading to meet a friend for dinner (been on foot house arrest for the past week) and can’t wait to break free!!!  I wanted to cover my ugly boot as best I could, so I turned to the good old maxi dress.  It is a beautiful night here at the Jersey Shore.. I threw a beautiful silk blouse over top and am good to go. Hope you find some outfit inspiration and don’t forget to enter the giveaway below!!

Maternity Mondays: Cake Lingerie

You may remember Cake Lingerie from my giveaway a few months back.  At the time I wasn’t pregnant but was so impressed with the brand, I wanted to offer up the beautiful lingerie to my expecting readers.   A few weeks ago, I reached out to Ashleigh from Cake….I had to get my hands on some beautiful pieces to wear throughout MY pregnancy!  She did not disappoint with this lounging set.  When I tell you it feels like butter, it is NOT exaggeration. I am smitten with the intricate girly details like ruffles on the straps and polka dot inserts on the robe.  I also received this seamless bra to wear around the house in the evening or even to sleep in.  It has great support and will be very comfortable after lil bean arrives too! Happy Shopping!
