Fool Proof Way to Shop: QVIT.com

One of the reasons “The Box Service” is growing so quickly has to be the careful attention to sizing, my  insight with knowing how particular brands fit and of course sending a variety of items and sizes so you are sure to find things you love.  Most clients of mine complain that online shopping, although convenient, can often be a major annoyance due to things not fitting properly or not looking like they do on the model…sending you straight to the post office to return.  If this is you…read on!

Whenever I am pitched something that I think is game changer, I am sure to say “yes” and post about it.  I recently learned of this site, QVIT and was compelled to share it with you because I think it might revolutionize how we shop online. Basically this site is an online boutique but they have this new technology that allows you to create a computer version of yourself and see how the clothing will fit your particular body type!  Cool right?

I have created my avatar…and it was painless.  It requires a measuring tape and about ten minutes of your time.  I can’t see “her” until September 2nd…and I can’t WAIT!  Once the site is ready for shoppers, you can use your avatar to shop all the latest and greatest and see what it will actually look like you YOU!

Being unique and innovative wouldn’t mean a thing if the brands they offered were ones I had never heard of.  No worries there ladies….some of my favorite boutique brands are in their line up…including box service favorites like Aryn K, Blu Pepper, Jealous Tomato, Gracia and RYU just to name a few.  These are all affordable price points too…so it won’t be one of those sites that is only for heavy hitters.  However they won’t be excluding those who want to splurge with brands like Dolce Vita and Bailey 44.

So, hop over to the site HERE and follow the prompts to “Get Started“! Anyone can sign up now, but come the relaunch of their site on September 2nd…the site will be invitation ONLY.  Also, everyone who registers and creates their avatar before September 2nd will be entered to win a 2,000 dollar shopping spree to the site!

Enjoy, Good Luck and Happy Shopping!

Top Five Must Haves: Fall 2013

1. THE LEOPARD CLUTCH:  Think about the most basic outfit you wear.  For me, it is distressed skinny jeans and a white tee shirt.  Comfortable, classic, timeless.  Now picture it with your favorite heels and a leopard clutch.  Your coolness factor just went up a few notches, right?  Lets face it, a printed clutch will update your basic wardrobe instantly…paired with your casual items or your favorite cocktail dress…TOTAL must have!

Left:  Rafe available here for $225.00
Top Right:  Christian Louboutin available here for $995.00
Bottom Right:  Forever 21 available here for $16.80

Interested in a “one of a kind” clutch?  Try Etsy here for affordable leopard clutch options.

2. RED POINTY TOED PUMPS:  As regular readers know, my husband gifted me amazing pointy toed nude pumps by Christian Louboutin for Christmas.  At first, I wasn’t sure I was ready to let go of the rounded peep toes that I had grown so fond of.  Truth is, I don’t have to choose between them…equal opportunity over here:)  I wager most of you don’t have a pointy toed pump or if you do it is outdated.  So, number two on my must haves list is a pointy toed pump…specifically RED because it is all the rage for fall…but truthfully any color will do!

Above:  Prada available here for $650.00

Those don’t strike your fancy…well here is a steal, deal, spend and splurge!  Oh and these are pretty cool too!

3. THE GOLD CHAIN NECKLACE:  Do not pack away your colorful statement necklaces but do add this versatile piece to your jewelry collection.  The gold hue goes with everything from t-shirts to silky blouses and since it easily layers with other delicate necklaces, I am certain it will get a ton of wear.  It makes the list at number three!

Above: ASOS for $34.00

A few others like this steal, deal, spend and splurge.  This one is just so darn cool I had to link to it here.

4. THE STRUCTURED BLAZER (NAVY):  I am smitten with blazers as you know…….all colors, fabrics and silhouettes.  This fall I am dying for a structured navy blazer.  The outfit possibilities are limitless and I just love the preppy put together vibe.  You simply can’t go wrong with any of the options I have linked to…they are sure to add polish to any old look.  You can safely bet that one of these fabulous blazers will be residing in my closet shortly! Decisions, Decisions.

Above Left:  JCrew Factory $128.00                           Above Right:  Mango $49.99

All different price points available like here, here  here and if money were no object here!

5. THE ANKLE BOOTIE:  This is such an important trend for fall that I dedicated an entire post to it here.  Although they aren’t workday appropriate (for most jobs) they are the perfect casual weekend shoe.  You can wear them now with cute summer dresses with a jeanjacket over top and well into the fall with leggings, skinny jeans and even dresses and skirts.  I can’t wait to rock my two new pairs from Piperlime, which you will see me sporting on the blog very very soon. The “bootie” secures the last spot on this must haves list.

Above:  I just purchased these in black for $59.00 and I highly recommend them.  They look and feel way more expensive, available in both black and brown..a total score!

Referring back to my bootie post is a sure bet but some other favs that are similar to the style above are herehere and  here.

HAPPY SHOPPING!!!!

Red and Camo: Inspired and Styled

I am always inspired by my “outfit ideas” boards (follow them here) …it is part of the reason I create them….my virtual closet, if you will.  I try to include items that I own so I can creatively mix and match and then sometimes the board will be centered around something I need in my life…I suppose it is my way of legitimizing the purchase….if you can create a few outfits…you must need it, right?  This “Camo and Red” board was originally created because I sold the outfit to a few of my “Box Service” clients…couldn’t get the color combo out of my head…decided I was so smitten, I needed the outfit myself.  The rest is history.

Our entire house was sick for close to two weeks….so my husband and I decided to have a much needed night out this weekend.  This is what I wore…straight from my board.  I am excited to wear it again with funky brown booties in early fall.  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and make it a great week:)

Camo into the fall with RED!

Red Blouse Daniel Rain (one size small left through box service), Camo Skinnies on sale and available here, Bangles c/o Lydell NYC, Hoops local boutique, Pumps Christian Louboutin, Clutch Louis Vuitton (old)

Transitional Leopard

You may have seen my recent post on Facebook  about the amazing customer service experience I had with Sole Society so when they saw this post from a few weeks ago and wanted to work together, I was elated! I picked two leopard styles that can be worn now with little skirts, shorts and dresses but will transition so nicely into fall.  As I mentioned, I have moved on to fall…and am only interested in pieces that can take me into the cooler months with styling and layering.

You know you love something when it arrives and you literally tear it from the box, slip it on and walk right out the door!  I had a casual dinner meeting and this outfit was perfect.  The flats are really comfortable and although they appear pointy-toed they actually have ample room for your toes…..No crunching required…which is the reason I usually shy away from pointy flats.  I love the combo of orange and leopard so I kept it really simple with my Golden Tote black dress, leopard flats and pops of orange.  What do you all think?  I hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Shopping!

Weekend Snippets and Pep Talk

Do you ever have one of those weeks where you feel like a failure all around?  Well maybe failure is too strong a word….I just had a crazy week and kind of felt #greatatnothing:( I know so many of you reading are full time moms as well as full time employees, so I hate to even complain.  I have the luxury of scheduling clients at my convenience and amazing flexibility with my career.  I am truly grateful and elated to even have a business that is getting progressively busier and busier.  All that said, striking the balance this spring has been HARD.  I am the busiest I have ever been and also have two kiddies now…so everything (schedule wise) is twice as hard.  I am very lucky to have support from my parents and sisters….Connor is three and I have yet to use a babysitter….#lucky.  I never used to feel the least bit guilty, but as the number of days I need coverage increase, I am starting too.  I used to consider myself a stay at home mom, who worked with a few special clients.  Now I would say my duties are a pretty even split….so some adjustments have to be made.  I am certain it will all work itself out. Any advice ladies..open for any suggestions on how to do it all!  Fortunately, I was able to relieve some stress come Friday with some of my girls for a mexican themed girls night out I hosted…we had a great time!  I rounded out the weekend with a Roll In The Rack service on Sunday and that about sums it up.  Hope you enjoy snippets from my weekend….back on Wednesday showing off my favorite new maxi from Guiliana’s line for HSN.

Sent this cutie pie to school Friday morning…..

Can’t wait to show you how I styled up this killer cork belt mid week….

MAKE IT A GREAT WEEK:)

Spring 2013: Weekend and Play Addition

Whew!!  I have done a lot of closets this Spring…and still many more to go!  One thing every client has asked for is a list of “what they are missing” from their wardrobe when the closet makeover is complete.  I decided that I could use this list for my own closet.  Please note, this is my play/weekend addition….meaning this is what I think every women needs for her non work related wardrobe.  I will follow up with a work must haves later.  I am willing to bet you have most of these, but it is still nice to see a roundup all in one place. Think I am missing something…share!  Enjoy and Happy Shopping:)

Fun Blazer: Since this piece isn’t earmarked specifically for your work day, you can have some fun with it.   If you like the one above in yellow or maybe a spring inspired print!  I have sold a few white linen ones to clients, and kind of want one for myself.  Whatever speaks to you…go for it….because a blazer is an absolute must have for Spring 2013!

White Skinnies: I am officially back in these skinnies above (finally fit after much gym torture)….now I just need the tan to look like my old self:)  Anyway, white skinnies are a must have for Spring.  They look great dressed up to go out on the town and equally as great casually cuffed with flats.  The trusted Rockstars are a great inexpensive option or you can  spend a bit more for my best sellers (through my box service) these Level 99’s.

Scarf : I should have put the scarf first, because I believe it to be THAT important in a casual wardrobe.  It completely transforms a boring outfit and can be tied/worn so many different ways.  I adore color and prints, but solids are great too.  Old Navy always has awesome scarf options and  Nordstroms has great options in every price point. So no matter your budget, grab a lightweight scarf for Spring!

Boyfriend Jean: Ah, the good old boyfriend jean.  The ones I am wearing above available here are so easy to wear and comfortable and definitely an affordable option.  I also have a pair very similar to these that I wear constantly.  If something a bit more classic is in your sights, these are awesome!

Statement Necklace: I could have featured many different necklaces, but decided to go with one of my all time favorites and a definite regular on the blog from Stella and Dot.  Unfortunately this one isn’t available any longer but similar vibe here.  Also, I adore my statement necklaces from Zolie Designs specifically this one in bright yellow! A statement necklace takes a regular old tee shirt and boyfriend jeans adds a shot of color and level of chic with a simple clasp around your neck!

Perfect Tee: Finding the perfect tee can be quite the challenge so whenever I see one that I like, I scoop it up.  I tend to gravitate towards white and black tees because they go with everything, but color is great too!  I really like these vintage ones from Old Navy.  This alternative tee is also great and has the same easy fit and vintage vibe.  If you are willing to splurge (and I sometimes do) this one looks a little more body conscious and has an amazing fit.  A great tee is essential as a layering piece for Spring.  Throw it under a blazer, a cardigan, a jean jacket and layer on the accessories equaling the perfect casual outfit.

Maxi: Obviously I am a fan of “black” for a maxi from the photo above and my recent feature here but honestly any color or print will do.  If you want to totally splurge this one is stunning or maybe the reasonably priced Von Vonni I am wearing above.  If budget is an issue, no worries there are a bunch of options at Target too.  This dress can take you to a summer wedding with glam accessories and shoes or to a backyard BBQ with flats and a ponytail making it another must have for Spring 2013.

Flat Shoe: I seriously adore my new Mossimo Sandals from Target.  They were an absolute steal and I love that they incorporate both black and brown into one shoe.  I think it is important for every woman to have a “go to” flat aside from a sneaker.  Ballet flats are a great option too and Piperlime has a killer selection for all budgets.  Stylish flats take you from yoga mom to stylish mom and are an absolute must have.

Bright Heel: I love love love this trend and didn’t own a single bright shoe for Spring.  I didn’t want to splurge on this trendy item so I purchased these from Victoria Secret in coral/hotpink.  Can’t wait to rock them on the blog!  I am smitten with pink but cobalt, yellow, orange…you name it…they are all fabulous additions that inject color,  interest and chicness.  Envision a white tee, white skinnies, statement necklace and these bad boys….I’d say you were ready for Saturday night!

Printed Blouse: It truly doesn’t matter the print or the style, just add a pretty printed blouse to your weekend wardrobe.  I would make sure it pairs nicely with your white skinnies, your boyfriend jeans and of course your blazer so that you can mix and match all your pieces to get the most from your wardrobe.  I adore this pastel bird print above (sold out through box service) but dynamic colors are great too.  I just ordered this sleevless blouse, aren’t the colors beautiful?  This brand Everly has great items too, I love the chevron print. If you want to keep it soft, this floral print blouse is gorgeous too!

Black and White Bags to Covet

If you follow the blog you know that my husband splurged a while back and got me the most amazing bright orange Marc Jacobs handbag last year…I wear it constantly and LOVE that it adds an instant pop of color to any outfit I throw on.  That said, I am craving something more muted for this Spring/Summer.  I have done some alot of online browsing and have decided that a black and white bag would be the perfect addition to my handbag collection.  Not only is it so “on trend” for 2013, it is classic enough to stick around for at least a few seasons. Of course, my favorites are anything but “typical”….Round up for all budgets is below….Enjoy and Happy Shopping:)

This Kooba for Kohls bag is too darn adorable and would easily go with anything in my wardrobe.  Available here for $65.00

Sweet Betsey Johnson tote that could certainly hold everything but the kitchen sink…Available here for $128.00

This constitutes as black and white, no?  LOVE!  Available here for $198.00.

This bag by Rachel Zoe is all sorts of fabulous.  Available here for under $250.00.

Usually not a huge Kate Spade fan, but come on..this bag is amazing!  Available here for $398.00

OMG..I love this bag (same shape as my orange MJ) So amazing. Available here for $498.00

Definitely a more structured working womens bag..but I love it none the less!  Available here for $595.00

This Marc Jacobs bag is spectacular and I love the unexpected tan side panels.  Makes it appropriate for well into early fall.  Available here and a total splurge at $1295.00

Camo: Day and Night

I am really into all things camo lately…as you can tell from this recent post. One item I really want to make way into my closet are camo skinnies…I have yet to try a pair on, so who knows how I will feel in them…but hopefully good…as I have limitless outfit possibilities in my head…Below are a few I would love to try!  Now I just need to find an inexpensive pair that works for this thirtysomething who still has a few lbs to lose.  Will keep you posted for sure.  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and HAPPY EASTER WEEKEND.

House Arrest

I spent a good part of the day week on house arrest due to potty training the computer looking at pretty fall dresses that I can hopefully wear come my 33rd birthday in October.  My husband and I couldn’t get away for a babymoon this time around, so we have planned a fun night out with a bunch of friends in Atlantic City.  It will be my first night out after lil Preston arrives and I am already dreaming about what I will wear. What? You don’t plan your outfit 10 weeks in advance? Apparently I do.  I have a little love list started below…all of them by my FAV newbie, Erin by Erin Fetherston.  Her dresses are the perfect mix of sexy and demure and speak pretty clearly to my personal style.

This ivory number is simply stunning…although it does remind me of this dress a bit, so maybe I don’t need a look alike.  I adore the one shoulder though…super sexy!!!

This sheer sleeved beauty is to DIE for.  I love that this is all about the legs- which tend to shape up much faster than the “middle” after birth. This could be a major contender come October.

If the weight is NOT dropping off….a babydoll style like this pleated dress could be comfortable and super chic all at the same time.  Already thinking of all the amazing accessories I could pile on with this simple dress.

Hello amazing mixture of black and navy!  Adoring everything about this shift dress but might be the toughest “fit” of them all post pregnancy.

I realize her dresses are on the pricier side. When I decide to press purchase I am calling it a birthday “splurge” but no fear if you don’t have a bday excuse…..these Erin Fetherston’s are on SALE at some major retailers and equally as fabulous.  Click here, here, here, here, or here.  If sizing is too limited and you are REALLY loving her designs as much as I am…you can also “rent” her dresses from Rent The Runway.

Happy Shopping!

Top Five MUST Buys!

1. Jeffrey Campbell Areas:  In love with this casual everyday rugged boot by Jeffrey Campbell.  I know it is hard to think “fall” while temps are in the triple digits but JC’s consistently sell out so I like to grab up a great pair early and have them ready to go by September.

2.  Well-Kept Towelettes:  If you are anything like me, your tech gadgets (Ipad, Phone or Laptop) get grimy and dirty (sticky lil fingers).  These adorably packaged towelettes shine them right up, are easy to throw in your purse and beware, are highly addictive.

3.  Boy’s Toddler Superga’s:  While debating what sneakers to get for myself this fall (liking these and these)  I stumbled upon this cute as a button Superga’s for my little guy. They have newborn ones too…smitten:)

4.  Lightweight Cotton Sweater:  Love this Shattered Sweater on sale at Third Street Habit. Would be perfect for late summer with white jeans and then into fall I can envision wearing it a million different ways.

5.  The Mackenzie:  You might remember my orange necklace from the million times I have featured it this summer….Zolie Designs doesn’t disappoint for pre fall with this necklace above. How beautiful!
