This is the third post in the past two weeks that I have wanted to title, Simple Style. I call it like I see it, and lately my style has been just that, simple. Truthfully I never wear anything overly complicated. I like easy, fuss free clothing and accessories. How about you? After a little further thought, I titled this Denim and Details because the jacket is the stand out. I adore it and am certain there has never been a softer denim…compliments of….you guessed it…Level 99! Keeping it interesting with the details like my Stella & Dot necklace and Fibi&Clo sandals. Hope you find some outfit inspiration- I would imagine this look is REALLY easy to recreate!
#MondayMingle time with my lovely friends Kristin of BonBon Rose Girls and Nicole from Momtrends. Be sure to pop by and see what style they are serving up this week. Linkup is below…as well as NEW giveaway! Thank you for stopping by and joining in the fashion fun:)
Mixing prints. I will be honest, I don’t do it often…when I do….I keep things pretty simple. I mostly pair stripes with camo like here OR leopard as a neutral like here. I am incredibly inspired when I see bold pairings on other style blogs but when I try to mix it into my personal style…it never ends up “working”. I prefer to keep it subtle…like below. The top is solid black but the intricate fabric work gives it a patterned feel….that paired with my favorite (and most comfortable) Ella Moss pants seemed to work well. What do you think? Do you mix prints?

A friend and reader asked for suggestions on looser fitting shorts for the coming HOT summer months. She resides in my home state of Virginia, so instead of suggesting harder to find boutique brands (like I usually do) I popped by my favorite affordable online retailers. In doing so, I stumbled upon these badboys from Old Navy. Snatching them up for myself today- with a $15 price tag, I will most likely grab both colors. In true TSF fashion, I can’t just send a link…I have to style them for you too! So here you go Ann….hope they work for you!
Let me start off by saying, I bought two pairs of these distressed white jeans featured above. I knew I would wear them a ton and I know how tricky (easily stained) white can be. I reserve one pair for adult time and one pair for family activity. So, before you judge for featuring them back to back (and wearing them nonstop) I wanted to share that minor detail:)
I know many clients and readers resist white denim…actually white anything. Truth be told, it IS hard to keep whites white…and with small children, it is even harder. I say use your smarts ladies….if you are heading to a backyard BBQ with freshly cut grass and ketchup as the main side, I would skip the white. However, if you are heading out for a drink or to dinner with a friend, they are the perfect summertime look!
I also want to make mention of the fabulous wedges sent to me from YellowBox Shoes. The brand is a new discovery for me….and you know when I love it, I share it! These striped wedges are adorable and affordable. A winning combination. For some reason I like spending less on my summer shoe wardrobe and can definitely see myself investing in a few cute pairs from their site. Infact, I just picked these up yesterday while out an about shopping for clients. Turns out, one of the boutiques I work with carries YellowBox shoes…even further confirmation they are a great brand! Happy Shopping:)
I am really into all things camo lately…as you can tell from this recent post. One item I really want to make way into my closet are camo skinnies…I have yet to try a pair on, so who knows how I will feel in them…but hopefully good…as I have limitless outfit possibilities in my head…Below are a few I would love to try! Now I just need to find an inexpensive pair that works for this thirtysomething who still has a few lbs to lose. Will keep you posted for sure. Hope you find some outfit inspiration and HAPPY EASTER WEEKEND.
I bought this Ark & Co dress the week after Christmas when one of my favorite Jersey Shore boutiques Lolas was having a big sale. No occasion, just loved it and knew it would be a great addition to the “old wardrobe”. Often, I purchase a dress (on sale or on a whim) and find myself frustrated…..not wanting to wait for a fancy dinner or special event to wear it. My solution? Treat it like a jumper!
One of my favorite ways to make a silk dress more casual is to throw a layering piece underneath….maybe a white collared shirt or black turtleneck. It immediately brings the dress down a notch, making it wearable for pretty much anywhere/anything. Today, I was heading to work at The Spot boutique for a few hours.
So grab your favorite dressy dress because you DON’T HAVE TO WAIT to wear it!
