Fall Basics

If you follow along with my blog, you know I love discovering new designers and shopping boutique brands that are not seen everywhere.  However, my exception is always Old Navy.  Obviously a large retail chain for the masses….for some reason….I always have great luck with seasonal basics.  Connor needed a few new pairs of shoes (since he goes through shoes every few weeks) I like to buy inexpensive pairs….We both left with bags full of goodies. I purchased a few great button ups like this chambray shirt as well as the adorable crochet sweater I have featured below.  My only gripe is the shoulders are a tad big..BUT it was too cute to pass up…and I know I will wear it a ton this fall.  I am still on a mission for the perfect white Tshirt- so please share if you have found a fabulous one. So I ask, where do you shop for your hang around basics?

  1. I almost bought that sweater. I still have the picture on my phone from when I tried it on. 🙂

It looks great on you and I love how you styled it with shorts and boots. Looking fab as always!

  2. Love a chunky sweater for Fall and those boots are amazing!

I like Old Navy but quality is a big thing for me.I prefer Gap for those sorts of things (it’s also a few blocks away).

  3. TOTALLY agree Jill that quality is important..I have had the BEST luck with the pieces I have bought from Old Navy…not going to say they last from season to season..but they usually wear well for ONE season..and for the price..that is my only expectation. Ironically I have had quality issues w GAP more than ON.

  4. I love Old Navy too. I like that a lot of their sweaters are cotton – I can’t handle synthetics. The sweater you’re wearing is adorable! Do you think it would be bad to get one when I already have something similar? 🙂

  5. This sweater is a perfect fall addition and I love the styling you did with shorts and boots.

I honestly don’t think I buy anything basic from one particular place, however, I have several cardigans from Madewell. I love their colors.

  6. I’ve been eyeing that same sweater online. It’s such a great transitional piece that you could wear so many ways. Great pick!

  7. Hi Carly! You snagged a great bargain haul! I love that sweater and Old Navy is one of my favorite places to go and buy basics as well as outfits to ‘hang around!’ So glad you enjoyed today’s bargain haul and I agree, if you do leave with a few things from your fashion show styling event….it is totally ok! Enjoy your weekend!

  8. Super cute!

I agree about Old Navy. It’s great for basic pieces that will get you through a season at an affordable price. I live in their tanks under shirts during the summer (especially now when I’m working with a post-baby body and need some extra length!).

  9. Perfect Fall look. I love the JC boots – they rise to just below the knee which is a style I love, often boots go lower and I don’t think this looks as good. You couldn’t pass up on the sweater I see multiple opportunities for wear! For my hang around basics I return to Gap every time. I love their tees actually, maybe you could find something there?

  11. I adore those shorts and of course the boots as well! Normally, I bypass Old Navy but after reading time and time again about everyone else’s good luck I gave it a shot. I ended up totally lucking out with a great olive green surplus vest.
