Trend Alert: Cardigans and Capes

If you have flipped through a few magazines or scrolled through a few style blogs…you have definitely seen the shift from structured blazers to soft flowing cardigans and capes.  I love a great blazer, as we all know….but it is nice to have such an assortment of oversized cardigans to choose from this fall.   Shopping them for all of you has been SUCH fun and I can’t wait to add a few to my collection.  Which one to choose?  My favorites below!  Happy Shopping:)

TIP:  Don’t toss your blazers ladies!  They are classic, chic and always provide polish and sophistication:)

Goodnight Macaroon has this oh so cozy grey shrug available HERE.  I own something similar from Armani Exchange and I wear it constantly…over everything!

Colorful Clutches: Having a Moment

I don’t know if it is the summer months or our growing social calendar now that the kids are bit older, but I am reaching for clutches constantly.  I have a few I adore…..a fun kelly green, a basket woven black and my trusted Louis Vuitton…..but not one bright printed or patterned clutch.  I am smitten with the highlighted ones below…still deciding which will be mine:)

I will be back Friday sharing an easy and chic summer look…the shirt/shorts combo is THIRTY DOLLARS TOTAL retail and available to purchase with one of my favorite online shops!  It is a post not to miss!  Happy Wednesday:)

Invest in Silver this Spring!

You may remember my forecast for silver pumps being a great investment here…..well my opinion on this hasn’t changed.  Silver is seriously on the scene for Spring….which means I have some shopping to do!  I am primarily a gold girl.  It seems to work well with my skin tone and I just love the rich luxury associated with the color…but even I cannot deny the influx of metallic silver that is everywhere.  I plan to invest in a few cool pieces in the coming weeks.  It will be a nice change of pace from all the gold I own.  I am still working on the perfect silver shoe, most likely will pick up a few baubles and maybe even article of clothing.  Why not?  You only live once.  Here are some of my favorite metallic silver items from around the web….Happy Shopping!

I got an email from Sole Society the other day and it said, “Tassles are Having a Moment”!  They most definitely are:)  I am seeing the coolest tassel necklaces popping up from pretty much every costume jewelry retailer I frequent.  They are so easy to wear and much like a pretty printed scarf, they take that “jeans and tee” look up a notch.  Are you loving them as much as I am?  Here are a few of my favorites from around the web.

SALE Must Haves That Will Take You Into Spring!

The end of the season sales can be amazing…total scores, right?  Although, if you can only wear the item for a few more weeks it might not be worth it.  Below, I have compiled a short list of sale scores that I know you can style well into the warmer months.  Hope you enjoy and Happy Shopping!  * I am going to create “style now and later” boards on my Outfit Ideas Pinterest board featuring the below items later today or stay tuned!

A Cool Blazer:

Remember that killer yellow blazer I scored on super sale around this time last year?  I wore it SO often….the 30 dollar price tag is down to pennies per wear.  Blazers have become more than work wear and the most casual of circumstance welcomes them…boyfriend jean + tee + blazer = my polished mommy uniform.  It is so nice when an item can perform double duty like that. I would focus on a fun print or bright color so you can start to infuse some much needed color into your wardrobe now…and it will still work come late Spring.   Blazer featured below available here, or if that doesn’t strike your fancy how about this one , this one or this one!

Silver Pointy Toed Pumps:

I am on the prowl for a designer silver metallic pointy toed pump.  I saw them on a few celebs here and there over the winter (Kate Moss in particular) and have decided they will definitely carry into spring and even summer.  Picturing now with all black and then white skinnies accented with metallic silver heels and jewelry.  Sounds fab, no?  The ones featured below are pricey available here but for more budget friendly options…I like these and these.  Only a few left but love this one too!

Leather Leggings:

If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon by now…there is no time like the present.  I would stick to faux in a true legging style…they are lighter weight and you can wear them all seasons.  If you read the blog or follow on Instagram you know how often I wear mine.  I plan to snatch up a new pair ( I have worn mine OUT) to style into Spring. Featured below are these and if those don’t work how about these, these or these.  If you just can’t seem to wrap your head around the full on leather legging..what about these?

LCT5ZUJ_mxDistressed Denim:

There is not a doubt in my mind that distressed denim will not be on the scene come Spring and Summer.  I have two if a boyfriend and one is a skinny straight leg and they are hands down my favorite jeans to wear.  Nothing screams “cool factor” like a worn in knee and pocket!  I know there are some DIY gals that can make their own..but for the rest of us who have zero time (or desire) pick up a pair on super sale here, here or here!  The ones featured below are available here.

Holiday Must Haves

I wasn’t planning to do a “list” of holiday must haves….I see SO many in the blogosphere and feel like it might be overload for readers….but when a few people on FB said they would love to see one….I decided to suck it up. This list is a mix of things that have been getting heavy  rotation in my wardrobe, things I am recommending to my clientele on the daily and one or two are on my wishlist from Santa. Happy Shopping!

You have seen me sporting them countless times on the blog this fall/winter…they are just so easy to style and I love the pop of color they provide.  I originally thought I would put them up on the shelf come spring but truthfully I can see them styled all the way through spring…Don’t believe me?  Check out the spring outfit ideas below.  I think you will be able to find a great red shoe (potentially on sale) anywhere that you shop…the Sole Society pair below is great….but just in case I love these, these and these.

Red Pumps for Spring

I will admit…I was a little late jumping on this bandwagon.  The moto boot hit the fashion scene hard last year, but I wasn’t sure I would get the wear out of them to warrant the pricetag.  I have never been SO wrong.  See, I can admit my fashion mistakes!  Ha!  Seriously though…fell in love with a pair of ASH moto boots at the Neimans event I hosted..with the incentive of an extra 30 percent off I decided to take the plunge.  I literally have not worn a different shoe since day to day.  They are easy, comfortable, cool, stylish…shall I go on?  Obviously they do not work for the office…so if you are just looking at “weekend wear” I would go more conservatively priced like here or here.  If you can wear them during the week..I say go for a splurge like here or here.  In an effort to show off their wearability into the warmer months….outfit ideas below:)

Moto Boots for Spring

The PantSuit!!!

I usually shy away from pantsuits and rompers because I have a really long torso and in order to get the right fit in length, I have to reconstruct the top.  When this Greylin pantsuit arrived in stores I sold it to one of my clients for New Years Eve.  I loved it so much on her…I decided I wanted to make it work.  So….I purchased the large and had a nearby tailor take in the top and sides for me.  I wore it out Saturday night and couldn’t take a step without a compliment- I think the androgynous look is a really chic sexy unexpected way to dress for holiday parties, no?

Casual Coats!!!!

I honestly have no idea how I have gotten through the past few winters.  When I worked full time, and dressed pretty formal on the daily…I wore killer Nicole Miller dress coats…. I never really had a need for a true casual coat.   For the past four years, I’ve been pulling a major fashion no no and have been wearing my formal Nicole Miller always…even when I am wearing jeans and a sweatshirt.  I also have a formal full length ivory coat…gorgeous but looks ridiculous with leggings heading to the gym.  Admitting again, my fashion fail.  So this year…a casual coat is HIGH on the Christmas list.  Hope Santa is listening:)  A few I have my eye on are below:)

Casual Coats

 Delicate Chains!!!

No one loves a great statement necklace more than I but lately I have been craving delicate pieces.  I have been wearing my Nashelle initial necklace alot and it has reminded me how much I love a simple easy to wear item for day to day.  I am hoping to be gifted a delicate piece or two from my guy to layer up with my charm necklace….how about you?  Craving delicate too?  Here are a few of my favs from around the web.

Luxe Auctions Giveaway: Camo Scarf!

I have been loving and wearing camo long before it was everywhere...infact this sweater is so old, it might even be considered vintage!  I think my familiarity with the print made it so easy for me to embrace when it exploded on the scene and I have since acquired a camo jacket, two pair s of skinnies, a shirt and most recently this beautiful scarf below.  Camo is no doubt a must have for anyone on trend.  It can be hard to wear…so adding a splash with a scarf or accessory is a great way to embrace the trend without stepping outside of your comfort zone or budget!

Luxe Auctions is run by a fellow Jersey gal…so when she reached out to partner up, I was more than happy to oblige!  Cherry on top?  The items are cool, unique and affordable…yes yes yes! How to Style a Graphic Tee…with pieces you already own!

If you are looking to add a little edginess to your wardrobe, graphic tees are a great way to do it.  Paired with bits of distressed denim and/or leather…they can take a rather simple outfit up and notch.  For this thirty-something mommy a graphic tee is perfect for going out to dinner or meeting a friend for a drink..which is exactly what I was doing in the outfit featured below. I kept it simple with distressed skinnies, a black blazer, some fabulous heels…oh and I piled on a some extra jewelry for a little added glam! Aside from the tee, I am willing to bet you have some variation of all of these items in your own closet.

Wanting to try the trend?  Never has it been easier to get your hands on one…Old Navy, who I feature on the regular for cool inexpensive finds, has an amazing selection here.  Or if you are super smitten with the one I am sporting…it is available here (but I think you have to create a sign in to view).  We are closing in on the weekend….Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Shopping!

Oh…I tried out my new Bobbi Brown goodies…a new eye palette and lipstick/lipgloss combo for this dinner/girls night out.  Thinking I will separate the review into its own post tomorrow or Saturday…so STAY TUNED!

Fall Must Have: The Vest

It is official.  I am obsessed with vests.  I have even been using it as a tag on instagram, #obsessedwithvests…  Ha!  They are so perfect for this early fall transitional weather and I love using them as a layer to bring in a different texture or color to your outfit…like here and here.  Personally love pairing fall vests with spring dresses and boots….gives the dresses a little longer of a life and it just looks so cute, no?  Vests are everywhere and easy to find this fall.  I wore this little number yesterday while shopping for two box clients and meeting a friend for lunch.  Want your own?  My favorite online selection is Piperlime, they have all different styles, fabrications and price points. I also have a great selection through The Box Service. Hope you find some vest inspiration and Happy Shopping!

Friday Night: How to Style a Leather Mini

I am elated that the weather has shifted a little earlier than expected and smiled when the temperature called for a lightweight sweater last night.  I. LIVE. FOR. FALL.  Seriously, it is my favorite time of year.  I have had this faux leather mini for a while now and every time I go to wear it…it just doesn’t make the cut….only once this summer here.  I love it in theory…but just never felt completely comfortable in it.  This love sweater that I scored on super sale from Old Navy a few weeks back was the perfect match and finally made this skirt feel fun, modern and maybe even whimsical? (you might be thinking young, haha) Hey, you only live once…I decided to rock the leggy look with a whole bunch of confidence! I hope I am inspiring you to grab that item in your closet that has been passed over time and time again…and find a way to WEAR IT!  Have some fun, think outside the box…I have a feeling you will be quite smitten with the result.  Happy weekend to all!!!

Fall 2013 Must Have: Leather Accents

Leather is HOT for fall 2013.  I am definitely not sharing anything that you haven’t read in Every. Single. Fashion. Magazine. What I am sharing, as a personal shopper, is that it has never been easier to try the trend.  Whether you stayed away from leather based on principle, price or style…those are no longer issues.  Enter…. faux leather… looks and feels real and makes the pricing much easier on the wallet.  Commitment phobe?  Lucky for you there are “accents” everywhere….allowing you to try the trend without fully committing.

This dress is a perfect example of leather accents for those who might be weary of the trend from head to toe.  Completely workday appropriate (for most) but also easy to transition out to dinne, this Sa Va dress is utterly gorgeous. You have seen this brand highlighted on the blog many a time as I love and wear the clothes consistently.  No longer available online…the company has completely repositioned itself and is now carried in boutiques all over the US.  Visit here to find the closest boutique to you!  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and crossing fingers I have inspired you to take a chance on some leather accents this fall!

KOHLS: How To Style My Black Blazer

I like creating outfits that are stylish, comfortable and easy to recreate for all of you reading along.  I would venture to guess that most of you have jeans, white tanks and a blazer, so I thought it would be helpful to add on accessories for both day and night….giving you outfit ideas for the most simple items in your closet.  As you might remember from this post, Kohls gifted me a few great item style up this fall!  This LC Lauren Conrad Boyfriend Blazer will be getting a ton of wear in the coming months.  It is so easy to style and I love the fit!  Totally worth the $49.99 pricetag:)The rest is a mix of new and old accessories….see why I am always telling you accessories are KEY?  They help your basics drive the extra mile….Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Tuesday!

Top Five Must Haves: Fall 2013

1. THE LEOPARD CLUTCH:  Think about the most basic outfit you wear.  For me, it is distressed skinny jeans and a white tee shirt.  Comfortable, classic, timeless.  Now picture it with your favorite heels and a leopard clutch.  Your coolness factor just went up a few notches, right?  Lets face it, a printed clutch will update your basic wardrobe instantly…paired with your casual items or your favorite cocktail dress…TOTAL must have!

Left:  Rafe available here for $225.00
Top Right:  Christian Louboutin available here for $995.00
Bottom Right:  Forever 21 available here for $16.80

Interested in a “one of a kind” clutch?  Try Etsy here for affordable leopard clutch options.

2. RED POINTY TOED PUMPS:  As regular readers know, my husband gifted me amazing pointy toed nude pumps by Christian Louboutin for Christmas.  At first, I wasn’t sure I was ready to let go of the rounded peep toes that I had grown so fond of.  Truth is, I don’t have to choose between them…equal opportunity over here:)  I wager most of you don’t have a pointy toed pump or if you do it is outdated.  So, number two on my must haves list is a pointy toed pump…specifically RED because it is all the rage for fall…but truthfully any color will do!

Above:  Prada available here for $650.00

Those don’t strike your fancy…well here is a steal, deal, spend and splurge!  Oh and these are pretty cool too!

3. THE GOLD CHAIN NECKLACE:  Do not pack away your colorful statement necklaces but do add this versatile piece to your jewelry collection.  The gold hue goes with everything from t-shirts to silky blouses and since it easily layers with other delicate necklaces, I am certain it will get a ton of wear.  It makes the list at number three!

Above: ASOS for $34.00

A few others like this steal, deal, spend and splurge.  This one is just so darn cool I had to link to it here.

4. THE STRUCTURED BLAZER (NAVY):  I am smitten with blazers as you know…….all colors, fabrics and silhouettes.  This fall I am dying for a structured navy blazer.  The outfit possibilities are limitless and I just love the preppy put together vibe.  You simply can’t go wrong with any of the options I have linked to…they are sure to add polish to any old look.  You can safely bet that one of these fabulous blazers will be residing in my closet shortly! Decisions, Decisions.

Above Left:  JCrew Factory $128.00                           Above Right:  Mango $49.99

All different price points available like here, here  here and if money were no object here!

5. THE ANKLE BOOTIE:  This is such an important trend for fall that I dedicated an entire post to it here.  Although they aren’t workday appropriate (for most jobs) they are the perfect casual weekend shoe.  You can wear them now with cute summer dresses with a jeanjacket over top and well into the fall with leggings, skinny jeans and even dresses and skirts.  I can’t wait to rock my two new pairs from Piperlime, which you will see me sporting on the blog very very soon. The “bootie” secures the last spot on this must haves list.

Above:  I just purchased these in black for $59.00 and I highly recommend them.  They look and feel way more expensive, available in both black and brown..a total score!

Referring back to my bootie post is a sure bet but some other favs that are similar to the style above are herehere and  here.
