East West Mamas: Farewell and Sole Society Feature

Hey all! Hope everyone had a great weekend and is gearing up for Christmas. I finished with the last of my clients on Friday and have been focused on finishing family gifts and wrapping everything for the boys.  Last night my hubby and I went to dinner with a few friends….a holiday tradition of sorts.  Good friends, good  food, good wine….I am a little on the hang to be totally honest.  ANYWAY…I snapped these photos by our tree before we stepped out for the night….I thought it was an easy and chic holiday look…all black with pops of red (lips), green (bag) and leopard (shoes)….Simple, easy, stylish, no?

With much sadness I tell you that this is our LAST East West Mamas feature 🙁  It has been SO much fun collaborating with Tanya of November Grey and I will miss our brainstorm sessions but we are both focused on building our businesses (hers is a new style series called Sechoir ) and just don’t have the time to dedicate to this feature.  I wish Tanya everything and the best always….Pop by her blog here so you can see her ridiculously fabulous outfit she wore for her bday! Red bag to match those red lips..yes yes yes!

Today we are both featuring AWESOME bags from Sole Society.  Since discovering Sole Society earlier in the year it has become my go to for affordable on trend items.  I have four pairs of shoes and love them ALL.  This is my first bag..and I am smitten.  Loving the kelly green color but MORE than that I love the design.  The clutch has side zippers that allow it to expand….I fit a normal size wallet, my galaxy note (which some mistake for an IPAD), lipstick, business cards and more in this bag….it is perfect!  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and MERRY CHRISTMAS!  Back on Thursday with a fun collab and New Years Eve style ideas:)

Merry Christmas……

East West Mamas: Ace Commune Giveaway!

I am getting sad.  Tanya is transitioning and focusing on a really amazing new site she started called Sechior it’s a style video series and if you haven’t popped by yet…you should!  With all the amazing changes coming her way..we have decided that December will be our last East West Mamas feature.  Boo hoo hoo:(  I have really loved the friendship and fashion inspiration she has provided over the last year…and although we will continue to connect regularly..it won’t be the same as actually working together….BUT…I couldn’t be more elated for her new adventure.  I will save the rest of the sap for when I actually have to bid farewell next month…

We are highlighting a fabulous sponsor this month… Ace Commune. The designer, a Japanese artist from Toyko who is now creating in California is truly a unique talent.  I love the simplicity of the pieces…and they are edgy and yet dainty, which honestly is a nice change of pace from all the “statement” jewelry that we often wear.  I adore the earrings and necklace I am sporting below…it is hard to part with them for this giveaway…BUT…tis the season!  Please enter to win below!

Don’t forget to pop by November Grey…say HI…and see how she is sporting Ace Commune!

Jacket Nicole Miller (old), Plaid Shirt c/o Tailor4Less, Blazer Piperlime (old), Dress c/o Karen Kane available HERE, Necklace/Earrings c/o Ace Commune, Boots Stuart Weitzman similar available HERE, bag Louis Vuitton

Win BOTH the earring and necklace, Tis the Season!

East West Mamas: Black Dress Chic with Karen Kane

We are back this month…and Tanya brought forward a totally new to me sponsor- Karen Kane!  We both decided classic was the way to go and chose this beautiful black dress…easy to wear and style…but completely up to date with faux leather shoulder details.  I was smitten the moment I slid it on…the fit and fabric are fabulous and any dress under $100 is a deal in my book! Check out more stylish dresses from the brand here! I will definitely be checking out this site on the regular.

This dress is amazing on its own…but to give it a more casual vibe I paired it with my tan suede boots, a fun scarf, mixed metal jewelry and very minimal makeup.  It made it the perfect daytime into evening outfit as I wore it to shop for a client and then out to an early dinner with my family. Don’t forget to pop by Tanya’s blog November Grey to see how she styled it AND for an AMAZING GIVEAWAY of a 100 gift certificate to spend with our sponsor!  Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Monday:)

East West Mamas: Sole Society Feature

When my new go-to for trendy inexpensive shoes, Sole Society wanted to collaborate for early fall it was a no brainer choosing this killer knee high boot. Tanya  and I both fell instantly in love and the rest is history:)  With the temps being cooler here on the East coast, denim seemed to work perfectly back to these badass boots….meanwhile…the West apparently called for a killer dress…totally drooling over Tanya’s….so bohemian chic, no?  Pop by her blog here to see her style up close and personal.  Hope you enjoy this months addition of East West Mamas, grab some style inspiration and make it a fabulous week!

East West Mama’s: We Heart Vintage Jewelry!

Back for another East West Mamas collaboration with my beautiful blogging friend Tanya of November Grey.  This month we are highlighting vintage baubles and how to style them in a modern way.  Tanya is a vintage queen and finds the most incredible clothing, accessories and even shoes at her local spots.  I am not much of a vintage shopper….I think I lack the patience it requires….but I have always been drawn to vintage styled jewelry/accessories, as you know from many posts featuring cool pieces I have collected through the years. (here, here, here, here and here to name a few)

With the necklace as the star of this outfit…I opted for all black, which is a look I totally adore. Tanya opted for all bordeaux. Stunning!  Loving the solid pairings from head to toe..how about you?  I gave my summer silk maxi a little taste of fall by pairing it with my favorite Rachel Zoe leather vest.  When in doubt, head to toe of one color can really make a style statement! Pop over to Tanya’s blog to see more shots of her sporting the amazing vintage tassel necklace here.

Love the idea of styling your OWN piece of vintage jewelry?  Well, here is your shot!  I am gifting the below medallion necklace to one of YOU!  Hope you find some outfit inspiration…..Good luck and hope you have an AWESOME holiday weekend:)

East West Mama’s: Because Lingerie Makes You Feel GOOD! {Hipster G}

We are back (better late than never) with this months East West Mamas Collaboration!  The super sexy Tanya of November Grey has a great relationship with the lingerie brand Hipster G and since we have never featured lingerie before…it seemed like the perfect fit for May (I know, I know we are late). The brand so kindly sent me a thong, boyshorts and an awesome bralet to test out. I decided to pass on modeling the thongs or boyshorts (you have seen enough of me with last weeks bikini post) and instead featured the bralet.  Since Carrie Bradshaw donned the black bra showing under the white tank craze on Sex and The City, I have been a fan of the look.  I am definitely more on the conservative side (except for maybe here) so the peekaboo bra is that little bit of bad girl sexy that I love!  I shot this look after the rain and the dew on the camera made for blurry shots…I was going to reshoot but then thought they turned out super cool, no? I styled the bralet with a pretty pink silk blouse that is slightly sheer so you can see the outline of the bra as well as the straps.  I am still rocking leather into June and paired with all hot pink, it was the perfect summer night look. Definitely pop by Tanya’s blog where she is looking smoking hot in her Hipster G goodies:)  Hope you find some outfit inspiration…how about you…Would you let your bra show?

East West Mamas: A Silk Maxi Story

We are back again with our monthly collaboration in the most amazing silk maxi to ever grace our bods.  We wanted to showcase how versatile this wardrobe staple can be so I styled it up organic and casual and Tanya went all out fabulous and glam!  Every month we try and bring a new brand highlight and this month it is all about ETSI.  The super sweet designing duo have the best philosophy for their line and describe it as “a love of natural fabrics and on trend luxury easy to wear for women and girls”. The brand is all about modern luxury and has a price tag to match…that said, the maxi featured is made of the softest most luxurious silk I have had the pleasure to touch. It has the most amazing fluidity..and the slit added just the right amount of sex appeal to an otherwise conservative style. I have no problem spending the extra dough on quality items when I know the item will fast become a staple that I turn to again and again, season after season.  I know this will be a regular on the blog in months to come and can already envision it paired with some leather for fall.  If silk maxi’s are not your thing?  I am sort of obsessed with this sweatshirt dress and can definitely envision wearing it now with ballet flats and then into the fall with tights and boots…adore!  Tanya will probably speak to this more than I, as she has a darling little girl that can dress just like her….seriously how cute is this matching mother daughter set?  I hope you will pop by November Grey as well as the ETSI site and check out all the beautiful clothing they have to offer.  They are so kind as to offer a discount code to our readers…Use SPRING13 for ten percent off of your purchase!  Thank you for joining in another “East West Mamas” post and make it a great week:)

East West Mama’s: A Collaboration of Style and GIVEAWAY!

The trendy online store Flat84 so kindly sent Tanya and I the same dress to feature for this months East West Mama’s collaboration.  I was elated when I opened the package to discover the ever so popular black and white trend (which I obviously love from a recent post here).  I was slightly deflated when I realized the size medium was positively innapropriate…my umentionables were completely exposed.  I thought for a bit….maybe I could exchange it for something else….then realized..it would be super cute as a tunic. This is a good tip for many of us thirtysomethings and beyond.  If you are loving a particular dress or have something in your closet that feels too short, remember you can always rock it with a great pair of leggings and in this case faux leather ones.  It instantly makes the dress appropriate and super chic.  Being as Tanya is more petite than I, the dress was the perfect length on her…hope you enjoy the way she styled it up on her blog here.  She is looking amazing, right? No fair.

It appears like Flat84 is transitioning from their winter to spring merchandise and spring items are sparse..but  there are some serious deals to be had.  For example, if you love the faux leather legging look…they have a cute pair on sale here.  Or this super cute camo jacket which you can wear well into spring with t-shirts and boyfriend skinnies.

Since we always seem to be in the giving spirit both Tanya and I are gifting the dress to one of YOU!

East West Mama’s: Paint Your Lips!

Welcome back to our monthly collaboration…East West Mama’s!  This month the lovely Tanya of November Grey and I are talking lips ladies:)   You might remember me giving up the little secret that Tanya is the one who first inspired me to try red.…so it only seemed fitting to have the next collaboration be all about lipstick!  Two of the hottest trends right now for color are orange and pink!

Wearing Orange Flip by Revlon                                                 Wearing Dollhouse Pink by Wet and Wild

It is no secret I adore wearing the color orange…but for my lips…I wasn’t so sure.  Turns out I not only like my lips painted orange….I love them!!!  The color is called Orange Flip by Revlon and available at all your local drugstores for $6.49.  I love how great it looks with just my Five Minute Face and a simple tee shirt.  Normally I would reserve a painted lip for a dressier occasion but this lip could be worn anywhere…well maybe not the gym….but definitely running errands around town.  Normally the chillest baby in town, the lil nugget didn’t want to leave my side yesterday…so he joined the photo shoot….What do you all think? Would you do an orange lip?  Don’t forget to pop by Tanya’s Blog to see how she is rocking all things pink!

Lucky for one of you we are each giving a lipstick in our featured color to a reader.

East West Mama’s: A Collaboration of Style

Posting consistently for almost three years definitely requires commitment and dedication, but beyond that sometimes it requires a little recharge.  So I thought long and hard about what might inspire me in 2013…….collaborating with one of my favorite bloggers just might do the trick!

It is with much pleasure that I introduce the beautiful and talented Tanya of November Grey. I was drawn to her blog (3 years ago) because she is everything I am not….an artsy super thrifter living in California. I am inspired by people who are different than me….but we are both personal stylists and retail junkies…so there was kismet.  A little secret that she doesn’t even know… I wear red lipstick because of her blog….She wears it so beautifully, I decided to try it about two years ago…I wear it all the time now. So thank you Ms. Tanya for giving my lips a much needed makeover:)  A little over a year ago, we discovered that we were both pregnant (with boys) due within days of each other.  We most definitely connected and have sent countless emails of encouragement and friendship.   OK, enough of my lady crush….now to the FASHION!

Each month, Tanya and I are going to bring you a fun collaboration…sometimes a brand/sponsor highlight and other times we might shop our closets together….More fun ideas to come….This month we were both gifted the most fabulous shift dress from London Times to style each our own way.  I love that we both piled on outerwear, but in a totally different way…Hop over to Tanya’s Blog to see her additional shots of the dress and style details.
