I purchased these black chinos from Old Navy last week and have been living in loving them. They are SO easy to style with lightweight sweaters or layers. The perfect casual cool vibe I am most comfortable in…especially on days I am home with the boys..running around town. Dare I say they might be my new fall uniform? I think you will be seeing them quite often…packed into the last few weeks that one can stand exposed ankles 🙂 How about you? What is your fall uniform? Hope you find some outfit inspiration….
SO FREAKING excited to share my FIRST style post on the new site….coming at you Friday!!!!!!
I purchased this sequin blazer on sale in the dead of summer knowing it would be a fabulous addition to my fall wardrobe. The first lift of humidity and I wore it with all white here. Since then, I had forgotten about it:) Thankfully a reader (who purchased it) asked me to style it for fall….I happily obliged. When a piece packs this much punch, I tend to keep it simple otherwise…loved the mix of the casual distressed skinnies and casual braided belt mixed in with the showiness of the sequin blazer. I am also thinking paired with leather skinnies later in the season will be cute, no? What do you think? How would you style it?
I have a friends baby shower tomorrow…and can’t wait to wear this dress again, at least that is what I think I am wearing. I am off to enjoy my friends, my boys, my weekend……if you want to stay in touch with my fashionable adventures…you are welcome to follow along on Instagram here! HAPPY WEEKEND:)

Connor carved his first pumpkin this year…to say he was excited is an understatement! Preston could have cared less…he is too busy walking…everywhere…Frankenstein style:) I had honestly forgotten how endearing it is…watching them cautiously step…so proud…and looking at the world with this whole new perspective….I kind of want to freeze this moment in time. Sigh.
This is the most real photo session I’ve recorded….I think maybe because the kids were so comfortable in their Boden attire. I simply threw down a big blanket, told the kids to play and jumped in at the end. Done! Not perfect…but we definitely captured some fall memories…Encourage you to do the same. Don’t plan, just hop on your lawn and take some photos!
Thank you to Boden USA for sponsoring this little shoot and providing us with essential fall goodies. I have been a fan of the brand for Connor for quite some time but this is my first experience with their baby line and womens line. Just as pleased…and plan to continue to shop both! Talking pumpkin carving plans…
I shared on Instagram about a week ago..Prestons first REAL steps completely on his own…and now he walks constantly…our little Frankenstein!
I asked him to say “I love you mommy” thinking maybe it would make him smile…he tried made a heart with his hands…which made ME smile:) He is just the sweetest boy!
Hope you are smiling and have a great week!!!
We are back this month…and Tanya brought forward a totally new to me sponsor- Karen Kane! We both decided classic was the way to go and chose this beautiful black dress…easy to wear and style…but completely up to date with faux leather shoulder details. I was smitten the moment I slid it on…the fit and fabric are fabulous and any dress under $100 is a deal in my book! Check out more stylish dresses from the brand here! I will definitely be checking out this site on the regular.
This dress is amazing on its own…but to give it a more casual vibe I paired it with my tan suede boots, a fun scarf, mixed metal jewelry and very minimal makeup. It made it the perfect daytime into evening outfit as I wore it to shop for a client and then out to an early dinner with my family. Don’t forget to pop by Tanya’s blog November Grey to see how she styled it AND for an AMAZING GIVEAWAY of a 100 gift certificate to spend with our sponsor! Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Monday:)

As you know, I hosted a small style seminar on Monday and one of the ladies inquired about mixing gold and silver jewelry successfully. I thought this was a great question and most definitely perfect material for a blog post. Of course, this is just my humble opinion…as to what I think aesthetically works when mixing metals. Truth is there really aren’t “rules”….but hopefully my tips have you rocking the trend with all sorts of confidence this fall!
1. Look like you are doing it on purpose. For example, don’t wear one small dainty silver bangle with a mess of gold accessories. The poor little bangle will get lost in the sauce and look like a mistake. Each metal (gold or silver) should have an equal representation (or pretty close).
2. Include one item that is mixed metal or two toned. Example, a watch that is both gold and silver, a necklace that has both included or a bracelet. This one piece sets the tone and allows you to add on silver and gold to your hearts content.
Some examples below! Hope you find some style inspiration and HAPPY WEEKEND:)
If you follow along with my Instagram, you saw that I hosted a fashion seminar at Jon Lori Salon on Monday. I shared top trends for fall 2013 and also talked about sprucing up your wardrobe with accessories, since most days the salon staff has to wear all black. In the hair industry, much like in fashion, you are your business card. If you look good and project confidence, people will want to work with you. Simple as that.
I decided to sport some fav trends myself including leather leggings, leopard booties and my distressed denim vest. Thank you to the RD Style team for this amazing lime green sweater (and some other goodies I will be sharing soon). I received numerous compliments on the dynamic color…and it is perfect for this time of year with leather or dark denim.
The the standout for me was NO DOUBT this amazing STATEMENT necklace made by the lovely Larissa of Zolie Designs. I seriously could not love her necklaces more…some blog love….here, here, here, here and here….told ya I adored! Anyway…we decided to partner up this fall and create a ONE OF A KIND necklace just for TSF readers. Lucky YOU! Details on how to purchase below. Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Shopping!

The sun was shining, the weather was incredible and my family and friends gathered at St Peters Church in Point Pleasant to celebrate my nieces christening day. My husband and I are both lucky and honored to have been chosen as the godparents to sweet baby Skylar. It was a beautiful afternoon….as we celebrated back at my sisters home…I excused myself from the festivities for a few quick moments and took some photos of the beautiful London Times dress I was gifted a few weeks ago. I have reviewed the dresses before and will say it again…the fit and comfort is just SO perfect for me. I also love that most styles work for day and evening and the length is just a smidge longer…which is so appropriate for this thirty-something chasing after the kiddies. Layered with my favorite Rachel Zoe leather vest…because this fall it is ALL about the layers, no? Hope you find some outfit inspiration and make it a great week:)
* Special promotion over on the London Times site…now through Tuesday use code CDW13 for 20 percent off in honor of Columbus Day! Happy Shopping!
Dress c/o London Times available here, Necklace Jan Micheals (old), Vest Rachel Zoe Collection (last season), Bracelet Cartier, Watch Rolex, Shoes Jimmy Choo
* Using my Bobbi Brown palette that I reviewed here. I will seriously never stop buying this shadow now. Trumps the Christian Dior shades I have used in the past.
If you read along, you know I love a great high end shoe. Usually purchased as gifts by my incredible husband, I am the proud owner of many a designers including Christian Louboutin, Christian Dior, Jimmy Choo…well you get the point. Most of these shoes cost upwards of 700 dollars…which when you think about it…really think about it…it is crazy!
I was introduced to Brian Atwood a few seasons ago when they made it to a blog Christmas list and my husband surprised me with them here. They fast became my favs…not only because they are a killer shoe but the comfort was unsurpassed in a platform heel. I didn’t need to rip them off my crippled toes at the end of the night….WOW! I was destined to be a Brian Atwood fan for life.
Fast forward another season. I am on the prowl for a great red heel. I had heard of this B Brian Atwood brand…an extension of his beautiful shoes…but pricing was about half. I loved the style, design and of course the $325 pricetag….so they became mine. I have worn them about 5/6 times now, one of which was out in NYC until all hours of the night….and I can say…they were SO comfortable. I have received countless compliments as well.
Style Tip: B by Brian Atwood shoes are just as fabulous as Brian Atwoods (or any designer shoe for that matter) so if you are in the market….I highly recommend them. Plus, it leaves a few dollars for that jacket you are swooning over:)
Available here for $325 and also available in nude, black and (I own these) red.
Available here for $350
Available here for $395
You may remember this trend forecast a few weeks ago…..I thought I would follow up with how I am styling my printed leggings around town. Yesterday I had two The Box Service clients to shop for and a dreaded grocery store visit was in order…..this is what I wore. As you know, I am a huge fan of meshing comfort and style and leggings with a tunic are a perfect example. I plan to wear this a little further into the season with black tall boots but for now…ballet flats did the trick.
Printed leggings can be a tough trend to try so my suggestions if you are going for it:
1. Keep the rest of the look really simple. Think solid colors and avoid tons of layers.
2. Pair them with a tunic length sweater or shirt. I cannot emphasize enough, especially as a thirty-something, to cover your crotch and tush- no matter your size or shape it is NOT a good look. Promise:)
So, are you trying the printed legging trend? If so what are you pairing them with? I hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Thursday!

Yesterday was my 34th birthday and I had an awesome night in NYC on Monday with some great friends. It was completely impromptu which made it even more fabulous and fun! We went to the restaurant Catch in the Meatpacking district and it was beyond…like so freaking delicious! We sat at the table next to Jamie Foxx…see my girlfriend below…I was too embarrassed to ask for a pic…what is that about? Anyway…. Thank you to everyone for all the sweet birthday messages via email, text, instagram and facebook…made this old lady feel SPECIAL!
Please forgive the crappy photoshoot….I really really try to just ENJOY my time with friends…being truly present and in the moment…so I only have a few instagram shots and grainy photos from my phone. I loved my outfit SO very much…thank you RD Style for all the goodies…got quite a few compliments…so I thought I would share how to “get the look”! Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Wednesday!

Some Candids from Instagram:
This London Times dress gifted to me last fall is truly one of my favorite casual dresses. I have worn it to showers, family parties and apparently down by the boat docks:) Seriously though…the fit, comfort and style are just so wearable. A close second in the favorites category are these Frye boots. I have had them for about eight years and NEVER tire of them. The older and more beat up they get, the better they look. I have decided I don’t wear them nearly enough…so you might see a little resurgence on the blog this fall. Although I love the new “bootie” trend, there is something timeless about dresses and tall boots…always in style. Don’t you think? Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Monday!

My number one mantra in regards to women living in their activewear is it takes just as much time to pull on yoga pants, a sports bra and kicks as it does to pull on skinny jeans, a t-shirt, scarf and ballet flats. I repeatedly ask my clientele to rethink spending the day in their gym attire and changing into something comfortable and fashionable. Of course, there are still those days that it makes zero sense to go home and change….for those days…why not merge fashion and function? The lovely folks at Lole asked if I would be interested in reviewing a few pieces from their line and my answer was of course yes…especially when I saw the killer selection and range of products. Everything from yoga wear to outerwear to dresses…they really have it all.
Review: The capri legging was unbelievable. I loved the high rise (to hold in my tummy) and the fabrication was really high quality. The tank I could take or leave. The fit wasn’t tight (on purpose) but it left me feeling like I wasn’t getting the support I needed on top. The cute print (gym clothes can be blah) was fun but not sure I would purchase this style. I cannot say enough about the tunic. I loved how long it was and the neckline was so easy to wear. I will wear this every day that I go to the gym….and maybe some days I don’t:)
I hope you will pop by their site to experience all that Lole has to offer. Next on my list is this cable neckwarmer! They also have some great tee styles on SALE here! Hope you find time for killer workout this week and Happy Shopping!

I created this board last Saturday night…partly because I promised a client I would share ways to wear white past labor day…and partly because I wanted to inspire myself to find creative ways to continue in my favorite white skinny jeans.
Turns out, I was most definitely inspired! I rocked my white skinnies yesterday for a few errands and running around with the kids. By pairing them with my favorite fall trends like cowboy boots, layers, and everything anything army green, I was both comfortable and chic! Have I convinced you to wear white after labor day? I hope you find some outfit inspiration and make it a great week:)

This post is a quick extension of how to style a grapic tee posted below. As you may remember from my Five Minute Face a while back….I don’t wear dramatic eyeshadow on the daily. Who does really? I suppose if we had a team of makeup artists and hair stylists swarming around us, we might have Kardashian like false eyelashes and perfectly glossed lips. Since I don’t think that is happening anytime soon, I will stick with a little drama on the nights I am lucky enough to sneak away for adult time with friends or the hubby.
I wanted to share my experience with the above limited edition eye shadow palette in Rich Chocolate by Bobbi Brown. I had an instagram reader tell me the reviews were mixed on this palette and I, for the life of me, can’t understand WHY? I adore it. It has everything a girl needs. Dark, dramatic and shimmery for the crease of your eye, medium blend for your actual lid, and shimmery, light and airy for near your brows. I loved the brush they supplied and it was easy to apply…1,2,3 and done!
Review: I would buy this product again. Love the color palette and quality. I will be using this palette for holiday parties and events. Available here
I complimented the darker eye with a nude and shiny lip. Since discovering I like color on my lips, I have consistently been wearing dark pinks and reds for nights on the town. I had forgotten how killer a nude understated lip can be! Hello again, old friend. I used New Baby Pink Lip Color and New Honey Lipgloss mixed together.
Review: I loved the lipstick. It was a perfect nude easy to wear shade and went on nice and light. I have been on the prowl for a great nude and this is IT! Will be buying again. Available here. The lipgloss didn’t WOW me, a little gooey for me and maybe not worth the pricetag? In all fairness, I am not a huge lipgloss person. If you love lipgloss and don’t mind the stickier texture, you would probably like this. Available here.
I was gifted product but all the opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this post.
If you are looking to add a little edginess to your wardrobe, graphic tees are a great way to do it. Paired with bits of distressed denim and/or leather…they can take a rather simple outfit up and notch. For this thirty-something mommy a graphic tee is perfect for going out to dinner or meeting a friend for a drink..which is exactly what I was doing in the outfit featured below. I kept it simple with distressed skinnies, a black blazer, some fabulous heels…oh and I piled on a some extra jewelry for a little added glam! Aside from the tee, I am willing to bet you have some variation of all of these items in your own closet.
Wanting to try the trend? Never has it been easier to get your hands on one…Old Navy, who I feature on the regular for cool inexpensive finds, has an amazing selection here. Or if you are super smitten with the one I am sporting…it is available here (but I think you have to create a sign in to view). We are closing in on the weekend….Hope you find some outfit inspiration and Happy Shopping!
Oh…I tried out my new Bobbi Brown goodies…a new eye palette and lipstick/lipgloss combo for this dinner/girls night out. Thinking I will separate the review into its own post tomorrow or Saturday…so STAY TUNED!
